The fun benefits of living in Mexico
By: Suzanne Marie Bandick

I have been thinking lately about different things that I appreciate about living in Mexico; so it occurred to me that I should start a full list.

Here are a few of the many benefits I see of living in Mexico:

  • I don’t own a winter coat or boots! I do need 3 swimsuits though. If one is wet you need a dry one and then you just need an extra one in addition to those – frankly because you never know when one of the first two might wear out and shopping for swimsuits can be stressful. So like a good boy or girl scout be prepared!
  • Tropical fruits and vegetables are abundant and cheap. Oh yes, we are talking mangoes, papayas, pineapples, avocados and even more produce that I can’t begin to spell is available at a fraction of what we paid in Canada.
  • I have a great collection of beach towels.
  • It is a great place to practice my Spanish!
  • You can get all your food with chili on it! Dry, whole, seasoned, sauce . . . . .
  • It does not cost a lot to be able to have a maid. I have a gardener too. Actually most services and repairs cost less.
  • We have lots of road construction as well as potholes in the roads so that way we slow down to enjoy the scenery.
  • I get exercise by running after gas trucks that go through the neighborhood too fast and make you run down the road to catch them.
  • You don’t need to pay to get tanned.
  • What I really like best is that generally we have a slower pace of life in Mexico. I believe that it was created so all could enjoy a good hammock nap. What was I all stressed out about before? Gosh once I think about my hammock nap, I don’t need to look for any more reasons that life is good in Mexico.

What are the things you love about being in or living in Mexico? Feel free to let me know.

Enjoy the Adventure!
